I have to start this review by being honest, I have a story in this collection, and I’m honored for that story to be a part of this collection.
I’ve been known in the past to refer to editor Rachel Kramer Bussel as the personal shopper of erotica and I stand by that statement after reading the stories in this collection.
I will admit that I have been enjoying these shorter Anthologies that have been put together by Alex Algren and the wonderful people over at Cleis Press. If you follow my reviews you will know that I recently read and reviewed, Stories Of O, which was short but very sweet as you can find out by reading my review HERE.
So I was pleased when I was asked to read this new anthology and all but jumped at the chance, especially when I saw the list of authors for this one. I am the first to tell anyone that asks about Submission, as a subject, I know very little about it. I’ve never really considered it my, ‘thing’ at least in real life, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a good story that revolves around the subject. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. So I settled down one night and began to read this new anthology.
The first story is titled: Truss Issues and is penned by Lux Zakari. As the title suggests this is a story about being tied up for the first time, but as I was soon to discover as I read, it’s about much more than that. It’s about trust, and this happens to be a reoccurring theme throughout the book.
Rose Caraway is a librarian on a very sexy mission and the library she’s created carries as many diverse stories as any library I’ve ever entered (and I’ve been in a few) but with a twist. All the stories should come with a warning stating that they are dangerously sexy.
This book might only contain 22 stories, but these are the types of stories that all libraries should carry in my book. My favorite book in this library was entitled: Cherries In Season and was written by KD Grace. I’m getting ahead of myself here though, so we shall return to taste some cherries a little later in this review. There were so many awesome stories contained in this library and they all seemed to tap into the various fantasies that I may or may not admit at any given time.
‘O’ is a simple sound and a very simple vowel but when you put it into the context of the big ‘O’ it can take on a whole new meaning. In this particular case it means orgasmic erotica and the wonderful folks at Cleis press know all about that subject. When they offered me my own copy of their newest erotic addition, Stories of O I couldn’t resist.
So as is usual for me I settled down and started to read. This book is a little different from many that Cleis produces as it comes in electronic format only. I’m as happy to read on my Kindle as I am from a print book and sometimes reading in bed is easier with the Kindle as the back light means I can slip under the covers and provide my own climax to a story. Anyway back to the task at hand!
