Erotic Romance Author Spotlight: Jasmine Hill

erotic romance author Jasmine HillThis weeks erotic romance author is Jasmine Hill. Here’s a little about Jasmine herself.

Jasmine’s alter ego lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband and their Border Collie.

She loves reading all genres but in particular she enjoys erotic romance novels and thrillers.

Jasmine loves writing and is always looking for new ideas for stories that will provoke inner passions, stimulate the senses and ignite the imagination.
She has won some short story competitions and is now excited to have started publishing her erotic romance stories through Totally Bound Publishing.
Jasmine is currently working on an historical erotic romance set in the Australian outback in 1919. It is a story about star-crossed childhood sweethearts who re-unite after 10 years – with interesting consequences.

We asked Jasmine a few questions which she was gracious enough to answer:

1. What does your writing process look like?
I usually start with a broad plan — an idea that I like. When I believe that the concept will work, I start to expand upon my basic premise. I write notes and jot down ideas. When and where will the story be set? What is the rudimentary story line? I also think seriously about conflicts regarding my protagonists and how they work through those conflicts and grow emotionally. However, usually the complex elements of my story, my characters and sub plots develop in my head as I write.

2. Do you have any suggestions/tips for aspiring writers and authors you’d like to share?
Read as much as you can, particularly in the genre in which you want to write. Absorb, assess and question — see how successful authors do it! You’ll also form an appreciation for what readers and publishers want to see in a story.

Write! Sit down and let your imagination take hold. Whether it’s by pen or keyboard, transfer the story in your mind into words on paper. Just relax and channel your creative side. Most importantly — don’t give up!

3. Just as your books inspire authors, what authors have inspired you to write?
I recall at fourteen, reading Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and falling in love with the story of Catherine and Heathcliff. Soon after, I read Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and I was smitten, staying up until the early hours of the morning to devour the entire book!

I’d have to say that both authors inspired in me a love of the classics and of romance and definitely inspired me to write.

4. How would you describe your latest book?
My latest book, Lillian’s Light Horseman, is a historical, erotic romance set in 1921 in outback Australia. It’s a story about star-crossed childhood sweethearts who re-unite after ten years — with interesting consequences.

The story is VERY loosely based around my husband’s grandfather who was an Australian Light Horseman in WWI and returned to a sheep station after the war. There are some family stories involving a love triangle, a governess and a broken heart.

5. Do you ever experience writer’s block? If so how do you get past it?
Yes! When I’m having a particularly bad time with the creative process I put aside what I’m working on and forget about it for a while. I take stock and do something else. When I feel like I’ve regained perspective and have a clear direction, I pick up where I left off. Often I need to take a break from a particular story in order to breathe fresh life into the plot.

6. What are you working on now? What is your next project?
I’ve recently moved to Madrid, Spain, with my husband and already this new and exciting city has inspired in me some fresh thoughts and interesting story lines. I’m currently toying with some ideas and thinking about planning a series. My next novel, however, will be a contemporary romance. It will be erotic BDSM in genre and set in Europe.

7. If you only had one word to describe yourself, what would it be and why?
Impatient! I know this doesn’t sound like a particularly positive adjective but I’m being honest (my husband rudely calls me, “high maintenance!”). I prefer the definition of “restless desire for change and excitement”. I have to keep busy and I don’t relax easily (unless, of course I have a great book to read!) I love Polaroid photos as they appeal to my need for instant gratification (I lose interest if I have to muck about with technology) and I hate standing in line — I’ll forego the end result if it means that I don’t have to queue — I can be doing something else!

Perhaps this is exhausting for my “slightly” older husband, but I can’t seem to change this aspect of myself. I think I must take after my maternal grandfather who told his physician, “I’m going to see a different doctor. You have too many patients and I don’t have any!”

An introduction to Jasmine’s New Book: Lillian’s Light Horseman:

Are the span of an ocean, ten years and a cruel deception too much for love to overcome?
The year is 1921. At the age of twenty-six, Lillian Hamilton is alone, desperate and living in England. An ocean away in the Australian outback, her childhood sweetheart and decorated Light Horseman, William Cartwright, is running a sheep station and nursing a deep betrayal while the local ladies vie for his attention. But Lillian’s and William’s paths are about to cross once again, unexpectedly and dynamically spinning each of them into turmoil, igniting past hurts and spurring them on to a wary truce.

As they work through their deep-seated issues of distrust, others are conspiring against them, until a shocking revelation sends Lillian running from the safety of William’s arms and into the path of another man. William will have to work against time to find Lillian before he loses her—forever.

Here is an excerpt from this book for your enjoyment:

He dragged the remnants of her dress from her shoulders and tugged the garment down her legs. “Fuck, too many clothes,” he grunted, ripping her chemise in two and tearing through her undergarments until she was lying completely naked beneath him. He reared back, settled himself between her legs and studied her body intently in the firelight, making her blush hotly under his examination.
“Don’t be shy, my darling,” he said softly. “You’re beautiful”
He started a slow caress from her throat as he gazed at her adoringly. “Your breasts are perfectly rounded. Perfect for me.” He cupped each globe and thumbed her taut nipples.
She whimpered, his touch sending sharp quivers deep into her core. He smiled lazily and dipped his head once more to kiss a leisurely trail from her breasts, down to her belly. He dipped his tongue into her navel, tasting her before continuing a path from one hip to the other.
She squirmed in delight as he drifted his lips softly over her skin, flicking his tongue over her flesh and sending goose bumps flaring across her body. She was desperate for something more and she thrust her pelvis against him in a frantic attempt to relieve the ache that was flaming low in her belly.
“Please,” she begged. “You’re torturing me.”
He chuckled. “I’m preparing you, sweetness.” He slid his lips lower along her belly. “I’m preparing you to take me.”
“Oh.” She panted, watching him sink farther down her body. Realizing his intention, she gasped. “No!”
“Hush, my sweet. I want to taste you.” He gripped her hips to still her, then closed his mouth over her sex, delving his tongue deep inside her. The feel of his lips at her most intimate place was like nothing she’d ever experienced. In an instant, she forgot her inhibitions and shamelessly thrust against his mouth, desperate for more of him.
He growled low in his throat and swept his lips down her inner thigh. “I can taste your arousal, darling. You taste so sweet.” He breathed against her sensitive flesh then flicked his tongue up to lave her cleft.
She cried out in pleasure when he added a finger to his thrusting tongue, then pressed his thumb to her clitoris and pushed, massaging the little bundle of nerves. The myriad sensations in her belly coalesced and grew into a roaring inferno, tightening her insides. She held her breath and tensed as waves of pleasure swept through her, racking her body with shudders and hazing her vision in blinding white. He continued to suck at her pulsing core, working her slowly down through her intense release.
