Tutorial: Cheap Dates

Cheap DatesWritten By: Jenne

So you’ve finally arranged a date with that certain someone, but what are you going to actually DO? If you’re tired of the dinner and a movie theme, or are simply broke like most of us, here are some creative and inexpensive ideas for romantic fun.

I still use some of these ideas even though I’ve been married for over 20 years, and they are just as much fun now as they were when we were first dating, so give them a try…

. Go for a picnic. If the weather is nice then the local park is great. If not simply spread out the blanket on your living room floor and pretend.

. Spend an afternoon ice skating or sledding, then warm up with a warm mug of hot chocolate.

. Take a hike!

. Spend a day at the beach. Even in the cool weather, walking along the shore and collecting sea shells can make for a good time.

. Go to the matinee showing of a movie. Who says night time is the only time for movies?

. Knock down some pins at the bowling alley. Many allies offer all night rates on Friday and Saturday nights.

. Tour a museum. Many offer free or discount admission on certain days. Visit the zoo or aquarium.

. Take a leisurely ride in the country and enjoy the view. Take a Picnic with you -)) Do some star gazing. Bring a blanket or sleeping bag and cuddle up while you find the constellations and discover new stars.

. Cook dinner together. Then enjoy your meal by candle light, dressed in your finest.

. Make it a movie night at home. Rent videos or watch the home movies. Be sure to have plenty of popcorn on hand!

. Enjoy an evening at the community theater. The tickets are very inexpensive and the shows are generally quite entertaining.

. Bring your quarters to the arcade and challenge your date to a pinball tournament.

. Re-live the preteen years at the roller rink. This time you’ll have someone to skate with when it’s couples only.

. Take an adult education class together. Check the community college adult education catalog for class offerings.

. Go shopping – especially for the holidays. Then have fun wrapping all the gifts together.

. One word – karaoke! Be kids again.

. Go to the playground and take turns pushing each other on the swings.

Above all remember you don;t have to have or spend a million dollars to have fun! Be creative and be yourself…
