erotic romance author Jasmine HillThis weeks erotic romance author is Jasmine Hill. Here’s a little about Jasmine herself.

Jasmine’s alter ego lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband and their Border Collie.

She loves reading all genres but in particular she enjoys erotic romance novels and thrillers.

Jasmine loves writing and is always looking for new ideas for stories that will provoke inner passions, stimulate the senses and ignite the imagination.
She has won some short story competitions and is now excited to have started publishing her erotic romance stories through Totally Bound Publishing.
Jasmine is currently working on an historical erotic romance set in the Australian outback in 1919. It is a story about star-crossed childhood sweethearts who re-unite after 10 years – with interesting consequences.

We asked Jasmine a few questions which she was gracious enough to answer:

1. What does your writing process look like?
I usually start with a broad plan — an idea that I like. When I believe that the concept will work, I start to expand upon my basic premise. I write notes and jot down ideas. When and where will the story be set? What is the rudimentary story line? I also think seriously about conflicts regarding my protagonists and how they work through those conflicts and grow emotionally. However, usually the complex elements of my story, my characters and sub plots develop in my head as I write.

2. Do you have any suggestions/tips for aspiring writers and authors you’d like to share?
Read as much as you can, particularly in the genre in which you want to write. Absorb, assess and question — see how successful authors do it! You’ll also form an appreciation for what readers and publishers want to see in a story.

Write! Sit down and let your imagination take hold. Whether it’s by pen or keyboard, transfer the story in your mind into words on paper. Just relax and channel your creative side. Most importantly — don’t give up!

3. Just as your books inspire authors, what authors have inspired you to write?
I recall at fourteen, reading Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and falling in love with the story of Catherine and Heathcliff. Soon after, I read Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and I was smitten, staying up until the early hours of the morning to devour the entire book!

I’d have to say that both authors inspired in me a love of the classics and of romance and definitely inspired me to write.

4. How would you describe your latest book?
My latest book, Lillian’s Light Horseman, is a historical, erotic romance set in 1921 in outback Australia. It’s a story about star-crossed childhood sweethearts who re-unite after ten years — with interesting consequences.

The story is VERY loosely based around my husband’s grandfather who was an Australian Light Horseman in WWI and returned to a sheep station after the war. There are some family stories involving a love triangle, a governess and a broken heart.

5. Do you ever experience writer’s block? If so how do you get past it?
Yes! When I’m having a particularly bad time with the creative process I put aside what I’m working on and forget about it for a while. I take stock and do something else. When I feel like I’ve regained perspective and have a clear direction, I pick up where I left off. Often I need to take a break from a particular story in order to breathe fresh life into the plot.

6. What are you working on now? What is your next project?
I
