Unless you’ve been living under a tree for the past couple of years, it’s unlikely you have not heard of the famous, and some might say, infamous book, 50 Shades of Grey. In case you haven’t, it’s an erotic book filled with what many consider misnomers and myths that surround the wonderful world of kink and in particular BDSM.

50 Shades of Kink author Tristan Taormino attempts to put those myths to bed once and for all and gives you a rough and ready guide into the often seemingly strange world of BDSM. Within the 128 pages of this book, Tristan who is a well regarded sex educator and considered an expert on the subject will take you gently by the hair and lead you along a pathway that will help you navigate the nuances that are the BDSM lifestyle.

This is not a book designed for aficionados of the kink, but is rather a gentler guide into the rougher side of sex for those who may have read 50 Shades of Grey, and found themselves wondering if this lifestyle was right for them. Like all things sexual there are many variations of the BDSM lifestyle and Tristan gives you guidelines and some very important ones as you begin your exploration.

The book begins by looking at the myths, truths and communication skills required to navigate your inner kinkster. Tristan gives you examples of how to explore the idea of BDSM with your partner in a safe and very practical fashion.  I love the fact the Tristan has emphasized again and again the importance of consent in a BDSM relationship, something that often gets over looked when you read a book such as 50 Shades of Grey as it’s a work of fiction.

Once you’ve navigated to the point where you are ready to do more than simply talk about captivating your inner kinster this book will help you delve in as slowly or as quickly as your partner and yourself are comfortable with. Filled with some awesome tips to help you get started and full of ideas that are as interesting as they diverse there is sure to be something that you will want to explore safety.

One of my favorite parts of the book can be found in Chapter two comes in the form of a simple checklist. I loved the idea of this list that allows each partner to tick off their own interests and then you can compare. I also loved the way Tristan explores the many and varied areas of BDSM in a sensible down to earth stye that makes it easy to digest and understand.

Not sure what sensation play involves? Think the idea of paddling someone might be fun but not quite sure which paddle or why? Have some idea of the difference between a top and bottom, or a Dom and a sub, but aren’t quite sure? 50 Shade of Kink will answer all these vexing questions and a lot more besides.

If you are just beginning to think about trying to tame your inner kinster I highly recommend this book. You can purchase your own copy of 50 Shades Of Kink by clicking HERE.
