As we begin a new year, I wanted to bring your attention to one of my favorite blogs on the next, and put it where it belongs – firmly in the spotlight!
Clitical: What was the original inspiration behind your blog Property of Potter and why that name?
Property Of Potter: The first few sex toys I owned did nothing for me. They were cheap, made of porous materials, and were buzzy and weak. I thought my body didn’t respond to vibrations and abandoned them in a box. It wasn’t until four years later that I revisited the idea of purchasing something new and realized I wasn’t broken, but that not all toys are created equal. More than anything, it’s been my desire to provide honest reviews that help potential customers make the smartest decisions when it comes to their pleasure. If I can help someone make an educated decision in which products will work for them, I feel like I’ve done my job.
Back in 2010 I started reviewing sex toys and other adult products. I was loyal to one company and never purchased or reviewed for anyone else. I advanced quickly in their company and felt a sense of pride when others would come to me with questions or would ask for my advice and suggestions. As time went on, things started falling apart and it wasn’t long before I felt like the rug had been pulled from beneath my feet. I talked with my husband about it and he agreed that starting my own blog would be a good idea for me. I was terrified, but wasn’t ready to give up reviewing, so I took the plunge!
The name was an easy choice for me. A few years ago my husband and I joked that if he got our anniversary tattooed on him, I would get a ‘property stamp’ tattooed on my body. I had no reservations about it, but was a little surprised when he had it done. I had ‘Property Of Potter’ tattooed on my lower back, showing exactly who I belong to, and following through with our deal. It felt natural to use that as my reviewing/blog name since it shared a lot about myself without giving away too much information. My husband’s name is Potter, and I belong to him!
Property Of Potter: There are several reasons why I love blogging so much, so it’s difficult to chose a favorite part of it. I guess getting to know so many other amazing bloggers and getting to work closely with companies and people I respect is a pretty big part of it. It’s also pretty amazing to be sent the latest products to test out and review!
My least favorite part is an issue I hope to eventually overcome. I have a lot of anxiety surrounding my writing ability, and it’s something that holds me back a lot. I always feel a moment of panic as I press the publish button, worried that my post will be full of glaring mistakes, or someone will challenge my opinion. I have a lot of insecurities and though I’ve been able to work through some of it, it’s still something that I’m always working at changing.
Clitical: If you had to name just one sex toy as your favorite what would it be and why?
Property Of Potter: My favorite toy is an easy one to name. The We-Vibe Salsa is simply amazing! It can be used on its own, inside a dildo that contains a bullet hole, in a cock ring, etc. It’s compact, quiet, and discreet. It’s the only toy I use on a regular basis and I reach for it whether I’m on my own or spending sexy time with my husband. I need a lot of power and Salsa doesn’t disappoint!
Property Of Potter: I was nervous that my blog wasn’t going to get any attention, that I would have a difficult time getting product sponsors, and would never make a name for myself. Here I am, less than seven months after starting my blog and I’m on top blogger lists, have bunches of sponsors, and am getting more attention than I ever thought possible. I figured my blog would be this tiny little thing that no one would ever visit or comment on, and that’s not at all what it’s become. I’m overwhelmed by how quickly it’s taken off, and can only imagine where it will go from here!
Clitical: If you had to describe yourself in one word what would that word be?
Property Of Potter: This is a challenge for me. Coming up with a single word I feel describes myself isn’t as easy as it may seem. I guess I would go with ‘deep’. I feel everything deeply, which is both beautiful and painful. I might not always show it, but there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface than it may seem.
A huge thank you to Propert of Potter from taking time out of what I know is a busy schedule, and if you haven’t already make sure you check out this amazing blog for yourself by clicking HERE.
