If you’ve not hopped over and taken a look yet, please spare a moment, you won’t be disappointed!

Q: Your blog; Bedroom Bondage focuses on bondage. Why a blog about the subject? What was your inspiration?
A: Although our name is Bedroom Bondage, it’s not a “bondage blog”. Bedroom Bondage stands for all kinds of BDSM activities in the bedroom. We are, in a way, the opposite of a 24/7 lifestyle blog. We are all about being a very “normal” couple in day to day life, but what happens behind closed doors.. is a different story. Our inspiration came from our realization that, often after reading Fifty Shades, many people had lots of questions about BDSM, and we wanted to help them. So we started a Facebook page, and answered everyone’s questions, encouraging them to explore their kink. At a certain point I wanted to write articles to help people, and started a blog. Then we received our first handmade impact toy.. we knew we wanted to work together with artisans and make their products available in our store so our readers could have access to the same quality we were getting.

Q: When you are choosing  a product for review what motivates you to pick a particular product?
A: I generally do not have the luxury of choosing the products I review. Sometimes an artisan asks what I’d like to review and when that happens, I pick products I’m personally most curious about, and that fit my personal needs (for example, it must be aesthetically pleasing). I always research the company who sells the products before I start working with them in any way, to filter out any low quality or unethical companies.

Q: On your blog you offer a personal shopping service. Why would you recommend people use this service?
A. It’s really for the discerning shoppers who know what they want but don’t have the time to find it themselves. It’s also for people who want to start with BDSM, have saved up and say: “Okay, we really want to try this. What do we need to get?” And it’s also for those who say: “I already have quite a collection, what would make a nice addition?” So instead of spending lots of time searching amongst many websites themselves, they just tell me what their fetishes are or what item they would like, their location and their budget, and I get back to them with the best option for them. I often work closely together with artisans who make these custom pieces.

Q: If you had someone who had never tried bondage before what words of wisdom would you pass onto them?
A: Start with something light and work your way up. Communicate with your (play)partner about what does and doesn’t feel good. I recommend a casual first try, meaning there is no scene built around that bondage element. It’s just you and your partner, exploring what does it for the two of you. Safety is also very important: make sure you agree on a safe word, and make sure you can be out of bondage in no time if necessary. Plus, never leave someone in bondage alone.

Q: If you had to sum your blog up in one word what would it be and why?
A: Real. We work with real people, both clients and the artisans who make luxury sex toys and BDSM gear. I’m a real person, and we are a real couple. I’m not a “big USA based company” like some think, I’m a young woman with a passion for both helping people and BDSM, sitting behind her laptop in a small village in South Africa, doing her thing.
